My design process

When I design user experiences, these are the aspects of the process I enjoy most and truly shine in.

Research

My default first step in any project I begin, I dive deep to understand users, businesses, and sectors better.

Ideate

Inspired by my time improving various mission-driven organizations, I create connections through derived insights.

User Testing

Informed by research, I empathize with users to explore ways they navigate with products beyond the digital.

Visual Design

Informed by my design background, I have a strong attention to detail and an appreciation for aesthetics.

What clients and partners say,

Marisa strikes the perfect balance of creativity, empathy, and technical know-how. She listened to the needs and anxieties of our team members, understood the overall vision of what we were building towards, and built a beautiful, user-friendly interface that will help us run our programs while reaching our diversity and inclusion goals.

Jaylene Chung
Development & Engagement Directer
Young Storytellers

Marisa was exceptionally communicative, professional and engaging throughout our work with her. She took the time to truly understand the mission of our business, and what we wanted to convey as our message. In fact, her insight as a designer helped us hone and clarify our vision through open-hearted conversations, advice and guidance in the design process. We highly recommend her services and look forward to working with her again.

And that's not all...

When I'm not designing user experiences, you can find me expressing myself in various means.

Photography

I seek to express visual storytelling that captures human connection, place, and landscape.

Painting

I enjoy creating with mixed-media on large canvases and pushing the boundaries on creative expression.

Improv

I enjoy playful expression at its best. It is a delightful medium for embodying supportive team play and collaboration.
